Electrical Properties

Electrically, Panphonics audio element is a capacitor, with a capacitance of approximately 30 nF (standard 60x60cm element v1.50). The element does not generate magnetic fields; no magnets or ferrous metals are used.

Panphonics audio element offers increased reliability due to a loss-less load: no heat is produced within the transducer regardless of SPL level produced. The element can thus be operated at 100% RMS power continuously without risk of burnout or damage.

Although the Panphonics audio element is based on an electrostatic sound radiating principle, the elements do not require high voltage signal or biasing, therefore, Panphonics audio element is also EU Low Voltage Directive approved. As the element forms a capacitive load, it requires a passive adapter unit to be used with an ordinary audio amplifier. Alternatively, specially-designed amplifiers may be used.
