Panphonics directional audio technology has a various applications. New, innovative applications that have not been either possible or very difficult to achieve with a conventional technology of point sound source or line sound source are now possible with Panphonics directional audio technology. A sound designer has a new freedom and simplicity to design good quality audio areas with a minimum disturbance to surroundings. A struggle with cross-overs and deconstructive interference of multiple sound sources also becomes a story of the past.

Custom components and electrical feature options are available to fulfill special needs or to enable larger-scale system installation - new features are possible as add-ons as well. However, such customization would  require some engineering work to make end design compatible with electrical safety and regulations, such as  EU Low Voltage Directive (LVD).

The surface of audio elements can be printed to have a total match with the aesthetic concept of your project or advertisement (like a company logo). Also, third party materials can be used to cover the surface to enhance the look or to mach it with the current designs of your space. Material suitability for sound (= air permeability of a material) needs to be checked beforehand by us.

I have purchased a demo unit from Panphonics. However, my demo unit does not sound so directional. How should I setup the unit, so that it becomes more directional?

A. Please carefully read the manual in Manuals & Guides section of MEDIA & DOWNLOADS.

Even a directional audio can be heard everywhere if the volume is too high in a quite space via the reflection of sound. Therefore, it is recommended to set Panphonics speaker volume at maximum 10 dB more than the ambient sound level in the space.

After this basic adjustment is made, please use the media player's volume control. Also, please be noted that you should adjust the volume on the spot where you want it to be heard. Set the volume to zero, then gradually increase the volume so that you can hear the sound from our speakers. You have then reached the minimum volume needed and the disturbance to the surrounds is now minimal.

Even after the above setting is made there may be cases where the sound from Panphonics speakers can be heard off the targeted area. This is seen commonly in spaces where the surfaces are such materials that  highly reflects the sound or the space where speakers are installed is extremely quiet. In such cases, please consider changing the angle and placement of Panphonics speakers. A loudspeaker is like a flashlight and room surfaces as a mirror - where and how would you place a flashlight in order to illuminate target spots with minimum light reflections?
